Relief from Lower Back Muscle Pain in Six Steps

by Sharon Morris

You're not alone! Lower back pain is one of the most common physical miseries experienced by humans. Almost everyone has already had (or will have) an occurrence of lower back pain at some point.

Here is a six step formula that in most cases will ease the pain significantly.

1- Gentle exercises like walking two miles, or better yet mild stretching in a swimming pool. Some will swear by yoga.

2- Soak in a hot bath. I play my favorite music or an educational audio program to make it a more pleasant experience.

3- After the 'heat treatment' you can switch to 'cold treatment' by applying an ice pack for a half hour. Wait a half hour and reapply the ice pack.

4- Regular doses of ibuprofen as prescribed.

5- Diclofenac diethylammonium gel (Brands include 'Voltaren Emugel' and others) applied as recommended. Some countries sell these externally applied (topical) pain killers, others don't. On the internet, anyone get it regardless of where they are. Try searching for it on auction sites.

6- You can massage the muscles using a hand-held massager, and of course a professional massage therapist has experience.

Chronic Pain: My Personal Story

Other Back And Neck Pain Articles

My pain story begins in my late twenties, around the year 2002. Back then, I worked long hours as a software engineer. I started to suffer from arm pain.

At that time, I thought it was normal to feel pain. I would come home and rest at night and during the weekends, and then feel OK again. Eventually, it got to the point I thought I had Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. I went to several doctors and was misdiagnosed many times. Finally, I got second and "third" opinions and received other diagnostics. I had two doctors agreeing that I had Cervical Radiculopathy. I am currently being treated for this condition.
